Things I love

ten things about me & what I look like when I blog

January 29, 2015

Photo on 27-01-2015 at 4.26 pmMe. This is what I look like when I sit at my computer. This is what I usually look like when I blog. Left hand holding up the head as apparently my neck can’t do the job on it’s own. I can’t remember if I even brushed my hair this morning after my shower. It’s just too hot to think of things like that at the moment in Perth! I am so thankful for aircon and fridges and water and a happy baby and content kids.

I just wanted to share with you ten things that you might not know about me as I am the Queen of Oversharing (yes, that is a place).

1. My hair is now almost totally grey. Each time I go the hairdresser the reality sets in just a little more as she ‘covers my roots’ just a little further and further back each time.

2. I turn 40 this year. Yes. Wow.

3. I failed typing in year eight. Now I spend at least an hour a day typing.

4. I am fascinated with helicopters and would love to pilot one one day.

5. Every time I have a baby my face gets covered just a bit more with pigment. That brown bit under my left eye is not poo, or a smear of chocolate, its pigment.

6. I failed sewing at school. I preferred to spend most of my lesson talking to my teacher, while she unpicked my sewing attempts. Now I love sewing and hardly ever need to unpick, as I’ve learned to take my time.

7. I am a die hard royalist. Any royal family – I’ll take any nationality, I’m fascinated by them.

8. I am afraid of heights and I often have nightmares about being stuck on a roof. Yep, weird, so I don’t think I’ll ever get my helicopter licence.

9. I don’t like water out of the fridge. I am a simple girl, tap is fine.

10. I love writing and spelling and grammar. I may not be good at all of them, but I do love them!

Share with me one thing I don’t know about you!

I love your concentrating while typing face!
You would be surprised about your grey content, I thought mine was completely grey and once I grew it out (it is nearly there), only the very front was totally grey, the back is almost all my natural colour.
I am afraid of bridges and aqueducts are completely terrifying to me!

one of my boys prefers tap water too! Even on our hot days he still takes it from the tap rather than the fridge.

I got a D for sewing in year 8. I’m still a terrible sewer but I enjoy so I keep trying. I think I’d probably get a C these days. Maybe.

Ill share 2: First as a partner in crime on the grey brigade front. Ive been fully grey for the last 5 years, since I was 30. (Its costing hubby a fortune at the hairdressers) and I used to do callisthenics. The thought of sitting down and being able to put my head on my knees with my legs straight is just pain! ha ha!!

So interesting to read a bit more about you Tash. Yep pigmentation marks – got them too. Post kids. And I have a milestone this year too. Wish it was the same as yours though. I’ll be turning 50 this year. Yikes! I don’t even know how that happened. Great post. Loved reading it. x

I also have pigmentation, but it only happened from Eve and got worse with the implant. And I’m also a tap water girl, water out of the fridge is too cold!

Well seeing as you mentioned grey hair, I’m one year into my transition to grey. After years of dyeing it and stressing about grey regrowth. I decided I wanted to see what I’d look like with natural, grey hair and so far I’m actually liking it. No turning back for me. ( next time I blog I’m going to not which hand I lean on ). Great picture of you Tash.

  • Pearlin January 29, 2015 at 12:57 pm

you look great in the picture Tash. I have decided to go au natural with my greys .With you on the fascination about royals and writing spelling and grammar :) .Really nice to know a little bit more about you.

I have started getting some grey at the front of my hair. I was blonde for over 20 years so I never took much notice until I went back to brown. They are not that noticeable so I’m told but I know they’re there! My mum did my sewing homework in Year 8 as I think she was frustrated at my untidy attempts. x

  • Jenny Jones January 29, 2015 at 2:17 pm

That must be the regular computer pose because that is my default position too:) It is funny that the things you failed at school- you just weren’t interested but now you are! I can relate to the roots getting touched up-thank goodness for hairdressers because when I do it myself I get goo everywhere. If they had hairdressing at school I would have failed that! Lovely to read your ten things

Love this post! Oh no – I love fridge water!! But ONLY if it’s covered, so that it doesn’t take on fridge smell and taste – ewww! What’s something people don’t know about me… hmmm… I can only eat raw tomatoes if I’ve prepared them. I just don’t trust other people preparing my tomatoes. It’s illogical, but that’s how I roll. I’ve noticed a bit of pigment showing up on my arms since falling pregnant. I’ve really been avoiding the sun since I realised and now I’m totally pastey and missing the vitamin D.

I’m the World’s Worst Sewer, only drink water out of the fridge and once flew in a helicopter with no doors over King’s Canyon. Once was enough. I loved this post and finding out a bit more about you. I love your bloggy face, you look very dedicated!

How lovely to find out more about you.I was never taught to type or sew, I would love to learn sewing properly but I think I’m too impatient! Have you ever met any member of a royal family, do you have a favourite?!

  • Naomi (dayscareen) January 30, 2015 at 6:04 am

Ha sorry, for the massive image of me in last comment, I thought I was choosing image for my gravatar/small pic…..didn’t expect to see my massive face appear when posted it!!

Tash – helicopters terrify me!!!! you will never find me buying raffle tickets or lining up to win a ‘joy ride’! I don’t believe I got any pigment through pregnancies and I am quite happily slightly salt and peppery in the hair dept at the moment.

Haha.. I don’t think it will be a joy ride for me, it is something I want to do and I kinda have the feeling I’d be VERY scared the whole time!

Touch Typing is one skill I have yet to master . #fail.
I am closer to 50 and so far few greys – I don’t have any roots to dye at all and it’s the only thing I like about me.

Hi Trish! I wonder how many people actually do touch typing and don’t look at their keyboard? I think my grey hair has something to do with genes.. a lot of my cousins from my dad side went totally grey very early!

  • De La Vida Spain January 31, 2015 at 5:23 am

    Hola Tash,
Lovely post – It was great to get to know another Pipster a bit better. I haven’t had any babies but still seem to get the pigmentation happening….maybe just a sign of too much sun for me in my younger days!! Don’t worry too much about turning forty, I used to worry about it a lot and now that I am just 18months away from 50, I can honestly say your forty’s can be a lot of fun. You know yourself so much better and you dont care so much about what people think. Fortys the new 30 anyway!!! Weirdly I have the same thing with heights and love helicopters…. definitely won’t be getting my licence but I do love going for a flight in one – nothing quite like it.

    • Tash February 3, 2015 at 5:57 pm

I think I totally have to do the helicopter thing for my 40th! I am looking forward to turning 40.. right now I’m just loving seeing all my old class mates turn that age and I can laugh at them! xx

  • Hayley Gemma January 31, 2015 at 8:35 am

I look EXACTLY like that when Im sitting here at the computer! Haha must be the default position!

Its funny because I know a few people now who are scared of heights, but can easily ride in a helicopter?! Go figure? Maybe you should try it?

And fridge water is grose! Although, Im not a fan of tap water…I like my water out of the dispenser at the *front* of the fridge. Fussy, I know ;-)

    • Tash February 3, 2015 at 5:55 pm

Oh, very fussy! I know my love of helicopters and my fear of heights just doesn’t go well together.. Maybe for my 40th….If I can be all grown up then! xx

  • Laney @ The Laney Files January 31, 2015 at 11:05 am

great reading about you! Can relate to a lot of things. Pigmentation. Grey hair! My thing- I don’t like cold chocolate. My husband likes to put it in the fridge, but it tastes wrong cold.

    • Tash February 3, 2015 at 5:52 pm

hmm.. we keep our choccy in the fridge as well – my hubby likes it too! I am quite partial to a piece of dairy milk that is at room temperature :)

  • Laura January 31, 2015 at 4:08 pm

Interesting to read more about you Tash! Hehe, when I was in school I bribed my mum to finish my sewing project because I was terrified of the sewing teacher. Now I love to sew! And I like good old tap water too.

Hi Laura! That’s funny about getting your mum to do it.. I wonder if the teacher realised? Tap water is just easy.. simple!

  • Jo @Countrylifeexperiment January 31, 2015 at 5:17 pm

I don’t want to think about what I look like blogging at the moment. I’m lying on the couch with the lap top balanced on my lap. I dare say there would be multiple chins!

Lol Jo! I always sit at my desk when I’m on the computer. I do major damage to my shoulders if I try to type on the couch! I dare say I usually have a few chins at the best of time! They are never lonely!
